"We partnered our Community"
We say a very sad farewell to Oak Farm Community School.
On 31st August 2011 the school ceases to exist; ending 38 years of dedicated service to the community, of which it was such an integral part.
We could reflect on the events of recent years and bemoan the causes of the School’s closure, or we could question the lack of imagination by those who failed to realise the enormous potential within the school. We could also consider why plans for a different sort of educational provision on the site were rejected. However it is far more positive and rewarding to concentrate on the many successes enjoyed by the students of the school since it first opened in 1973.
In short, we should remember Oak Farm Community School for all the ‘right’ reasons.
Former students are now spread from the UK across the globe, in many different countries, undertaking jobs and roles of great worth. Successful doctors, lawyers, architects, university lecturers, actors, international aid workers, nurses, civil servants, research scientists, engineers, accountants, directors of major national and international companies, soldiers, sportsmen and women, pilots and teachers are all represented within the vast army of former students for whom Oak Farm Community School was the common denominator.
All are able to look back with fond memories at the Fun Run and Fair, May Ball, New Forest camp, sporting events, work experience, school performances, senior citizens parties, and a plethora of other events and activities that punctuated their time at the school. These events and activities made school life even more enjoyable, and were led by dedicated, loyal, and effective school staff whose aim was always to help every student, whatever their prior achievement or background, to achieve their full potential.
